“I’ve always admired…” project

Here you have another activity to improve your speaking skills: “I’ve always admired…” project.

You have to prepare an oral presentation about someone you admire: a celebrity, a singer, a band, an actor or actress, a sportsperson, a politician… You’ll have to look for information and make a presentation to your classmates for 3-5 minutes including some of the topics that we have studied so far in 2º Bachillerato. You can use some visual aid to help you with the presentation.

This is the evaluation test you have to do to finish the project after all the class presentations. Remember: you won’t get the correct answers or any mark; it is just to check what you have learnt after all the presentations in class.

Reported speech evaluation for 4º ESO students

These are the evaluation activities about the reported speech topic that we’ve been working in class in the last few weeks.

“WRITING MARK”:

You have to write questions with the words given and go around the class asking your classmates these questions and writing down their answers. After that, you have to write a text in reported speech telling your teacher what you asked and what they answered.

“SPEAKING MARK”:

The main objective is to record a conversation between two friends talking about any topic and then one of them will tell everything to a third one using reported speech.  You have to hand in the video in mp4 format. Here you have a file with an example:

“Job interview” Project for 2º Bachillerato

You are going to do a small project related to the topic “The world of work”. You are going to prepare yourselves to apply for a job and have a job interview in English. 

  1. You are going to watch a video about what you have to do and not to do in a job interview:

2. After that, you are going to make groups to carry out an investigation into any of the five topics listed below using the links provided (download the file):

  • Do’s and dont’s
  • How to answer the most common questions
  • How to write a CV
  • How to write a cover letter
  • Body language

3. Once you have done that, you have to make a short oral presentation (5 minutes) for your classmates using any visual aids that you may need (powerpoint, pdf, poster…)

5. To finish, you can role-play a job interview using all the things that you have learnt in this project. Use this video as an example:

Project “Create your own restaurant” for 4º ESO

Here you have the file with all the necessary information for this project (taken from http://www.mes-english.com):     restaurant_project

You will have two marks:

For the written part:

1) Make a menu for your restaurant

2) Write a description of your restaurant (logo, name, owner, specialities, description of the place)

For the oral part:

  1. Role-play at a different restaurant
  2. Record a commercial for the radio (approximately 30 seconds)
